How to use a visual timer
Choose a time boundary
Enter a duration or tap a preset to start immediately. Five minutes is a useful starting point for a short task.
Choose what you see
In Settings, switch between filling and draining liquid and show or hide the numerical countdown.
Pause when you need to
Pause an interruption, resume when ready, or stop to set a new countdown.
When to use a visual timer
A short household task
Give sorting a drawer or watering plants a visible five-minute window. Stop and review what remains when the countdown ends.
A speaking turn
Use one minute for introductions or five minutes for a presentation segment so everyone can see the shared time boundary.
A break between activities
Set ten minutes for a break, with a visible cue for when to return to the next activity.
Choose your view of time
- The liquid level represents the proportion of your countdown that has passed.
- Use minutes and seconds for a precise duration, or save your own presets in Settings for this visit.
- Choose No Alarm when you want a silent ending. Keep the tab open and the device awake while timing.
This tool uses the same liquid countdown as our free visual countdown timer. Choose that page for your saved general-purpose presets.
Frequently asked questions
What does the liquid level show?
In filling mode it rises as time passes; in draining mode it falls as time runs out. You can also show the remaining time as numbers.
Can I set a time that is not in the presets?
Yes. Enter up to 120 minutes and up to 59 seconds, then press Start. Presets start immediately when selected.
Is this visual timer free?
Yes. The online timer is free and works without an account or installation.
Does the countdown continue after I close the page?
No. Closing or reloading the page ends the countdown. Background restrictions and device sleep can delay alarms, so keep the page visible when the ending matters.
