How to use the homework timer
Pick one piece of homework
Choose a specific next step: read two pages, attempt a few problems, or draft one paragraph. Put the materials you need within reach.
Set a work window
Start with fifteen minutes or enter your own duration. Keep the timer beside the assignment rather than switching repeatedly between tabs.
Review before continuing
When the timer ends, check what is finished and where you need help. Take a separate break or start another work window.
Homework sessions to try
Reading and notes
Use ten or fifteen minutes to read a section and write a short summary. Stop at a sensible place if the countdown ends mid-sentence.
A worksheet in sections
Choose a small group of questions for a twenty-minute window. Mark difficult questions to revisit with a teacher or parent.
Revision practice
Use a twenty-five-minute session to review one topic, then check your answers and plan the next topic separately.
Keep the assignment in charge
- The timer measures a work window, not a requirement to finish the whole assignment before zero.
- Pause for questions and interruptions; stop to choose a new duration.
- Enter a shorter custom countdown for a break. This page does not automatically alternate work and breaks.
This tool uses the same liquid countdown as our free visual countdown timer. Choose that page for your saved general-purpose presets.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a homework session be?
Choose a duration that fits the task and the student. Fifteen minutes is the starting suggestion here; shorten or lengthen it after trying a session.
What if the homework is not finished at zero?
Review what remains, ask for help if needed, and decide whether to take a break or start another session. The timer does not judge or submit your work.
Can I pause for a question?
Yes. Press Pause, get the help you need, and Resume when you are ready to continue.
Does it automatically time a break?
No. After the countdown ends, press Done and choose a separate break duration. For visible 25-minute work and 5-minute break choices, use the visual Pomodoro timer.
