Using a Countdown Only When a Wait Estimate Is Known
A countdown is suitable only when someone knows the duration being shown. If an appointment’s start time is uncertain, communicate that uncertainty instead of starting an exact countdown that may be misleading.
For a scheduled five-minute pause before a group activity, explain the start and ending clearly. Update the plan if the schedule changes. This display cannot predict a medical appointment or promise a change in anxiety.
